Design and Motifs

This striking kilim showcases a harmonious arrangement of alternating horizontal stripes in deep earthy brown and warm terracotta hues. Lively geometric motifs punctuate each stripe with vibrant colors including pink, orange, cream, olive, and muted blues, creating an engaging visual rhythm.

Two primary motifs dominate the design: the “Elibelinde” and the “Kilim Star.” The Elibelinde, or “hands on hips” motif, symbolizes femininity, motherhood, and fertility. It is a deeply personal motif weaving in the weavers’ hopes for family well-being and continuity. The Kilim Star motif, often depicted as a simplified star or cross shape, carries connotations of protection and guidance, acting as a spiritual safeguard woven into the fabric of daily life.

Each motif holds layers of cultural storytelling—evoking resilience, community, and optimism. The weaving captures the lived experience of Anatolian artisans, reflecting centuries-old traditions that continue to resonate emotionally and artistically today.

Integration with Interior Design Styles

  • Bohemian and Eclectic: The vibrant color palette and folkloric motifs introduce warmth and personality, enhancing boho-inspired interiors filled with global accents, layered textiles, and diverse artifacts.
  • Mid-Century Modern: The geometric shapes and precise pattern repetition complement the clean lines and organic forms characteristic of mid-century styles, adding texture and cultural depth without overwhelming minimalism.
  • Rustic and Southwestern: Earth-toned stripes and tribal symbolism align beautifully with rustic woods, leather furnishings, and desert-inspired palettes prominent in Southwestern décor.
  • Modern Minimalist: When paired with monochrome or subdued surroundings, this kilim introduces a focused burst of color and narrative, serving as an artful centerpiece that breathes life into restrained spaces.
  • Global Contemporary: This rug’s authentic Anatolian motifs make it a meaningful accent in interiors blending modern living with worldly influences, perfectly balancing tradition and trend.

Featuring colors and symbolism forged through history, this rug invites both visual delight and cultural reflection, enriching a variety of environments with character and soul.

Wow! I am so thoroughly impressed with this absolutely BEAUTIFUL Kilim. I have forwarded your site on to my parents who are building a new house and they will be delighted to know that there is an affordable, stunning, and culturally connected way to decorate their house. I also loved the postcards that you sent. They are going to be prominently displayed in my flat. Thanks so much. I am very pleased with your customer service and your merchandise.

I received my custom rugs today. I had purchased a vintage rug from you a few months ago, and could not imagine any rug could be more beautiful, but you outdid yourself with the long runner. I live in Houston, Texas. We had massive flooding from a hurricane last August. My house was flooded and we lost a lot. These new rugs have brought me joy and are a lovely new edition to my new floors. Thank you for the excellent work and the most wonderful customer service I can imagine!
