Rug Thickness Guide

Rug thickness varies according to the type of rug, weave, and pile.

The thinnest rugs are flat-weave rugs, with kilims falling in a range just under 0.2 inches (5 mm).

The thickest rugs are long pile rugs woven with large knots, with tulu rugs reaching around 0.5 inches (12 mm). Below are some visual references to help you figure the average thickness of your new rug. Please contact us for questions on specific rugs.
