For a contemporary look with abstract appeal, this black over-dyed area rug is skillfully crafted by the revitalization of a genuine hand knotted vintage Turkish rug woven in the 60s or 70s. Made from wool on cotton, this rug measures 5' x 12' 4" (60" x 148"). The process in creating these works of art begins by shearing to lower the pile and to help "distress" them. They are then dyed in one color, a stage that can be repeated several times to reach the desired saturation level and hues that complement and contrast the old. Additionally, repeating geometric patterns are embroidered to give them an eclectic look.

I was hesitant to purchase a rug from pictures on line. The colors within the rug were critical to me. Kilim.com upon my request for more color info, took additional pictures with crayons and paint swatches sitting on the carpet. That solidified my choice. The rug arrived quickly and the way it was folded and shipped left the rug without marks when placed on the floor. I wasn’t expecting it to be of the quality of my parents’ thick antique Persian rug and it wasn’t . For the price, I’m pleased with this vintage rug.
