Colorful patchwork rug created from vintage Turkish "chaput" fragments. Vintage “pala” or “chaput” kilims, as they are called in Turkish, are flatweaves hand made from recycled fabrics made of cotton wool and goat hair. They were woven on narrow looms and the panels were carefully sewn together afterwards to form a two, sometimes three winged reversible area rugs. Chaput weaving was an old tradition in Asia Minor (Turkey) born from the need to reuse old textiles, merging what was at hand into unique decorative pieces of craftsmanship.

Kilim.com upon my request for more color info, took additional pictures with crayons and paint swatches sitting on the carpet. That solidified my choice. The rug arrived quickly and the way it was folded and shipped left the rug without marks when placed on the floor. I wasn’t expecting it to be of the quality of my parents’ thick antique Persian rug and it wasn’t . For the price, I’m pleased with this vintage rug.
