For a contemporary look with abstract appeal, this grey over-dyed area rug is skillfully crafted by the revitalization of a genuine hand knotted vintage Turkish rug woven in the 60s or 70s. Made from wool on cotton, this rug measures 4' 10" x 11' 9" (58 in. x 141 in.). The process in creating these works of art begins by shearing to lower the pile and to help "distress" them. They are then dyed in one color, a stage that can be repeated several times to reach the desired saturation level and hues that complement and contrast the old. Additionally, repeating geometric patterns are embroidered to give them an eclectic look.

We recently ordered a rug from Kilim.com to replace one that we truly loved but that had become a tripping hazard after years of wear and tear. I ordered what I thought was the best match for a replacement. Shortly after placing my order, I got an email from Ida with additional photos of the rug I had selected, as she wanted to make sure that I was aware that the rug was a bit more green in undertone than had been reflected in the original photos.
