Uzbek Kilim Rugs differs form the Caucasus Kilims due to the weaving techniques. Although they seem to be flatweaves, they are composed of different woven parts gathered together. This is a vegetable-dyed warp faced patterned kilim rug in narrow bands known locally as ghudjeri which is a very time-consuming technique of manufacture. The finished strips, packed with a multitude of complex, ancient motifs, are cut into equal lengths and sewn, selvedge to selvedge, creating a textile to whatever dimension is required. This kilim which was woven in the 60s is representative of the very fine detail and wide range of color used by Uzbek weavers and is often used as covers or horse blankets.
Colors may appear slightly different across various monitors due to screen settings device differences, and external lighting conditions. If color accuracy is important for your space, we recommend viewing the rug on multiple devices or contacting us for a detailed color description. We can provide detailed photos and references using Sherwin-Williams, Benjamin Moore, Pantone, or even Crayola crayons.
