Vintage “pala” or “chaput” kilims, as they are known in Turkish, are flatweave rugs hand-made from unraveled fabrics of cotton and mixed fiber blends. Chaput weaving was an old tradition in Asia Minor (Turkey) born from the need to reuse old textiles, merging what was at hand into unique functional pieces of craftsmanship. Nomadic weavers usually used narrow looms and sewn together the panels to form a two, sometimes three winged reversible area rugs. Eco-friendly and creative, each chaput kilim is unique in its coloring and hues because fabrics were employed in their original colors.

I highly recommend this company for the quality of their rugs and for their amazing customer service. I ordered a rug and in the process of it being shipped we were mandatorily evacuated because of hurricane Michael. I envisioned my beautiful rug sitting on our porch getting ruined while we were away. I emailed Kilim and requested they delay shipment and received an immediate response that they would deliver at a later date. We received the rug after the evacuation order ended and we had returned home. It is more beautiful than the pictures online. Kilim was also helpful in the selection process, sending additional pictures that included coordinating colors. I will purchase from Kilim again without a moments hesitation.
